I recorded these vocals in December 2020, as we all headed into a strange and disconnected COVID Christmas. I'd heard the original Judy Garland version on the radio while driving around and the original lyrics pulled me in. The message is way more melancholy than the Frank Sinatra version, with lyrics like "next year all our troubles will be miles away" and "someday soon we all will be together." I imagined Beast Man longing for connection because there's no Christmas at Snake Mountain. I'm heading into this holiday weary but extremely thankful for family and friends.
Wherever you are this year, I hope your holiday is warm and wonderful. Let your heart be light.
